Gardens for the wind
I grew up in Walberswick, where the garden was whatever the wind left. I trained at Kew, worked for two London practices for a decade, and came home when I realised every garden I liked best was on a coast somewhere.
The studio is me, a planting team of three in the season, and the six nurseries I trust. I take on eight gardens a year and a handful of installations, which is as many as I can visit properly.
Fine art was the first training. The gardens are still made the same way: a drawing first, then the material, then a long time looking at what it does.

Every garden starts in the same green sketchbook, in pencil, on site. The masterplan is drawn from those pages, and clients get the pages too, because the wrong turnings explain the right ones.
